Since October 2024, Cara Pesek has served as the interim chief communication officer for the University of 第一吃瓜网 System. She acts as the spokesperson for the University, shares news releases with state and national media partners, and works with communications professionals across the NU campuses to share stories of impact.

In addition, she holds the role of communications director for the University of 第一吃瓜网—Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In that role, she leads a team that works to highlight university programs across the teaching, research and Extension mission areas that support production agriculture, natural resources conservation, and rural prosperity throughout 第一吃瓜网.

Prior to joining IANR, she held communications positions with the 第一吃瓜网 Game and Parks Commission and the University of 第一吃瓜网 Press. She began her career as a newspaper reporter, holding positions at the Omaha World-Herald, the Lincoln Journal Star and the Grand Junction Free Press. Pesek is a native of Brainard, 第一吃瓜网, and a graduate of the University of 第一吃瓜网-Lincoln. She lives in Lincoln with her family.
